Sustainable life style: Three “R-s”

„Waste treatment – a small step for a man, a giant leap for mankind“

A discussion and brainstorm was performed in form 8b in spring 2013.
As a result, a great number of essays were born. Some of them can be read as following:

Sustainable Lifestyle

In the past three decades we have consumed 1/3 of the planet’s natural resources. We cut down the forests, wipe out the animals and make our waterways undrinkable. But the more we consume, the more waste we produce. For example, if everybody consumed at the United States rates we would need three to five planets. In my opinion, if we don’t change our habits, we will end up with nowhere to live, and the easiest way to change that is for everyone to treat their waste properly.

In the first place, we all need to recycle. It is very easy to seperate paper from plastic and plastic from other stuff. In this way we won’t burn the garbage, creating super-toxic chemicals, or bury it into the ground, polluting earth, air and water. Every time you throw something out, you should just stop and think which garbage can you’re throwing it in.

In addition, we should all buy recycable things. We can only recycle things that are designed for that. For example don’t buy juices in small cartong packages. You can never seperate the paper from plastic because they’re all smashed together. Buying biodegradable and already recycled items helps alot.

But on the other hand, there will always be items that cannot be recycled and their production makes 70 times more waste than we actually throw out. To change that, we need to change the whole system from linear to a new one that doesn’t waste resources or people.

All in all, in order for that to happen, everyone should start seeing the bigger picture. I believe if everyone invests into a cleaner future for our planet, the effort will add up and make a huge change.

Waste treatment is a sensitive subject in todays world. Recently, recycling has become a very popular thing, especially for eco-friendly people. They are trying to make more and more people recycle the trash that they would normally just put in one plastik bag and throw away.
In the past three decades 1/3 of the planets natural resource base has been consumed. Most of it is going used to make stuff that people would buy. 99% of the things people buy are not in use in about six months. That means that only 1% of the products we buy are in use in 6 months. These numbers mean that the waste that is being created is very big.
The more waste is created, the more we must think what to do with it. In the middle ages, people used to throw their litter just on the streets. But they didn’t use any harmful substances in the things they used. Nowadays, we do one of two things with the trash: we either dig it into the ground or we burn it and then we dig it in the ground. Both ways, we damage the environment a lot. To avoid that, people came up with the idea to recycle the trash. But that’s not the best thing to do still, because even recycling damages nature in a way.
We have to be very careful about what we do with the things after we have used them. If we do not care about it than in about 70 years the planet might be out of resources. So to keep that from happening we must be caring and respective with the things that we don’t use anymore.

How To Save Our Planet

As we all know, humans are the biggest consumers in the world. Our natural resources are decreasing, because we constantly need new things: phones, clothes, make up, furniture etc. To produce cars, computers, clothes – nature has to give much from its resources. And some of the resources, like metal ores and fossil fuels, are not renewable. It means that we have to use them wisely if we do not want to run out of them in near future. There are things we all could do to protect the world from becoming a place no one wants to live in.
The first step is to change our consumer habits. Most of the stuff that is bought ends in trash in six months. So every time before buying something new we should think: ’Do I really need it?’ Furthermore, we could also talk to our friends and family about that topic so we could change our lifestyles together.
Sorting our waste would also make a great difference. This helps to recycle garbage and that is useful for all of us. For example, people do not actually know how much plastic is thrown into the oceans all the time and the consequenses of that. Our garbage affects nature too much, so we cannot wait any longer without reacting!
In conclusion, there are a lot of things people could do to save our planet. For example, we do not have to buy all the things in the world and we could also sort our garbage so it would be easier to recycle it and protect Earth from turning into a big garbage land. It is time to react now or never!

Waste treatment
A small step for a person, a giant leap for the mankind

There has been many discussions of how we could save the world, but also many people think that it is impossible to save our planet. I believe that if we all took a small step, such as changing our habits, we could easily save the world.
The first and the easiest step would be throwing trash into garbage can and not on the ground. I have seen many people throwing their trash on the ground and let us be honest: we have all done it some point. But if we all did the right thing and threw our trash to the right place, we would help to save our environment. Even better, if we threw the garbage into special trash bins, it would a lot more. By special trash bins I mean bins for plastic, class, paper, etc. I am not saying that we all should correctly distribute our trash but it would help.
The second easy thing to do would be changing our consumer habits. Have you ever noticed that you buy a lot more things than you actually need? This is one of the biggest mistakes we have done. By buying useless things we harm our environment a lot because it was probably made of mineral resources, then processed in some kind of factory that pollutes environment, and in the end, we do not actually need this and throw it away. When we did not buy so many useless products, not only we could save our environment but also our money. It is win-win situation, so why not to stop buying them?
All in all, what i want to say, is that everything is possible and so is saving our planet. It all starts by taking small steps.

Waste Treatment

Nowadays, there is more and more items produced and due to that, the amount of waste is growing incredibly fast. People are consuming too much and recycling too little. Also factories are producing new things that immediately need replacement to get more money and some things that are not even recyclable. Moreover, most of the companies that are supposed to get rid of the trash, just leave it somewhere or burn it, and by doing so, harm the environment even more. In this essay I am going to talk about how to get recycling to a level where we would have a better environment.
In the first place, people are buying too much things and therefore making too much trash. I believe that this is caused by the factories that produce a countless amount of new things. First of all, all the products produced should be recyclable. Secondly, many factories are producing things that need immediate replacement to get more money. If they would not do that, we would need to buy much less things and decrease the amount of trash we make.
In addition, people are recycling too little and they need to change that. Many companies that are getting rid of trash just dump it in a hole or burn it. When they burn trash, it releases dangerous toxic wastes. When they dump the trash in a hole or onto an inhabited island it stays there and is harmful to animals and to the environment. One possible solution could be to change all trash treatment companies into recycling companies, then there would be much less waste.
On the other hand it takes a lot of time to change the environment. I believe if someone starts to recycle everything they may do it for some time but after a while this person does not see any outcome and may quit doing so. This is a long process and people have to take their time because the eventual result when the environment gets healthier does not come immediately.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that if we want to start living in a healthier environment, we need to work hard to recycle as much as we can but of course it takes takes a lot of time. As ‘’we’’ I mean not only a group of people but all the people and companies.

The easiest way to change the world would be changing my consumer habits

Our world is very dirty and us, humans are using much more resources than planet Earth has to offer. We should have at least 5 planets to live like this but we only have one and so we have to recycle and not pollute our planet. We are running out of resources and the production has almost taken over the world. World is almost running out of wood because of the massive deforestation.
Firstly, I think that we should change ourselves by consuming less. If we consume less then less products are needed for life and success. Everybody on our planet should start recycling and sorting their garbage. If we recycle and sort our garbage then less waste will pollute our world because the sorted part will be recycled. The more trash recycled the less new resources we have to make and produce.
Secondly, people should consume or buy environmental friendly products. If the factories see that nobody is consuming their products which are dangerous to our health and planet then they will stop producing the chemical products. If that happens ouor planet will be much less polluted and less and less resources will be used to save our planet.
All in all I think that if people want to change something big they have to start from step by step and finally reach the perfection because you can not change something big with just thoughts but you have to start from little steps. So people please start recycling and sorting your waste.
